Does the MySQL MCP connector copy my database?
No. Data Connector queries your live MySQL database when you ask a question. It does not create a scheduled copy of the database.
Can Claude change records in MySQL?
Data Connector provides read-only database access. Use dedicated read-only credentials and grant access only to the data the workspace needs.
Can I connect a private or localhost MySQL server?
The hosted connector requires a publicly reachable hostname with TLS. A server reachable only on localhost or a private network cannot currently connect through this flow.
What do I need before connecting?
A Loam account and workspace, a MySQL hostname and port, a database name, and read-only credentials. Test and save the connection, then approve your workspace in Claude or another OAuth-compatible MCP client.
